Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2 has proposed a property tax increase for the 2026 tax year and scheduled a public hearing in Pflugerville.
The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 10, at 201 E. Pecan Street, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Residents may attend to express support for or opposition to the proposal.
The district’s notice says its proposed rate is higher than the no-new-revenue tax rate. That benchmark is the rate calculated to raise the same amount of property tax revenue from the same properties in 2026 as in 2025.
The proposal is not higher than the voter-approval rate, which is the highest rate the district may adopt without an election to seek voter approval. The notice therefore says an election is not required for the proposed rate.
How residents can respond
People may contact the members of the district’s Board of Commissioners or speak at the September 10 hearing. The official notice records Robert Turner, April Griffin, Mike Howe, Randy Reese and Mitchell Jones as voting for the proposal.
A household’s bill depends on the taxable value of its property as well as the adopted rate. The notice gives the calculation as the tax rate multiplied by the taxable value, divided by 100.
Residents can use the property-tax database linked from Texas.gov/PropertyTaxes to review proposed rates and scheduled hearings for the authorities that tax their property. The notice also directs people who need help with calculations to the Travis County tax assessor on 512-854-9473 or the Travis County Tax Office website.
The hearing is about the fire district’s tax proposal, not the separate City of Pflugerville tax and budget items scheduled for City Council consideration. The district is formally known as Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2.
